Position Title: Registered Nurse, Barie, Ontario

Department: Long Term Care Facility

Reports To: Director of Care

Degree Required: Postsecondary diploma, associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree

Other Requirements: At least 3 Covid Vaccinations

Start Date: Immediately

Purpose
Reporting to the DOC, the Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable to provide
professional nursing care to residents and supervise care given by Registered Practical
Nurses (RPN) and Personal Support Workers (PSW). Primary functions include
assessment and planning of resident care needs; delivery of skilled procedures
according to the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice; medication
administration; and documentation.
The Registered Nurse is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with
the Mission, Vision and Values to ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer
service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provides for nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, the resident plan of care and within the scope of practice of a RN.
  • Utilizing sound nursing practice principles, the RN will ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care on the assigned home area(s).
  • Develops and sustains a plan of care to meet residents’ assessed need.
  • Responsible for safekeeping of drug and narcotic keys in accordance with professional standards and County of Grey policies.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of nursing care delivered.
  • Demonstrates a professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of nursing care.
  • Follows all corporate policies and procedures; contributes to the development of site-specific nursing policies as indicated

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in good standing with the College of Nurse of Ontario
  • Has worked as an RN in a clinical setting, preferably LTC, within the past two (2) years
  • Strong written, oral and time-management skills, including demonstrated experience delegating tasks to Personal Support Workers / Health Care Aides
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position including:
    • Push/pull up-to 250 pounds
    • Lifting 50 pounds max
    • Working at/above shoulder height
    • Standing & walking for long periods of time
    • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, crouching
  • Proficiency with technology including: Electronic Health Records, Electronic Medication Administration Records, Online applications
  • Knowledge of Point Click Care an asset
  • Proof of current immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (MMRV), tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, polio, hepatitis b
  • Proof of negative TB skin test within the past one (1) year or negative chest x-ray within the past five (5) years
  • Current BCLS-HCP (HealthCare Provider)
  • Current N95 Mask Fit Test Certification
  • Willing to undergo Vulnerable Sector Police Check as a condition of hire

Position Title: Personal Support Worker, Barie, Ontario

Department: Long Term Care Facility

Reports To: Director of Care

Degree Required: Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from an Ontario Community College

Other Requirements: At least 3 Covid Vaccinations

Start Date: Immediately

Purpose

New nursing and care staff in the residence care program will be joining existing care staff from the
LTC in upholding a culture of excellence in client and family care. Staff involvement and education,
strong organizational values and performance expectations ensure that nurses in LTC organization can
practice according to the scope and philosophical underpinnings of their profession.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Following the care plan, observing, and reporting any substantial findings and/or changes in patient/resident/client’s behavior to the appropriate registered member of the healthcare team
  • Working under the supervision of a Registered Healthcare Professional such as a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
  • Assisting with ambulation, positioning, and transferring of patients
  • Assisting or providing total personal care such as toileting, bathing, and perineal care
  • Handle all other activities of daily living (ADL)
  • Assisting nursing staff by answering call bells
  • Must be able to perform both floor duty and observational care assignments in an acute care setting
  • Reporting behavioral and clinical changes to a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse

Qualifications

  • Recent PSW grad or has worked as a PSW within the past two (2) years
